Trading Places and Daniel Geitner winners of the 2009 $30,000 Carolina Real Estate Company Grand Prix The 10th and final day of the Aiken Spring Classic featured the $30,000  Carolina Real Estate Company Grand Prix sponsored by Carolina Real  Estate Company with a field of 21 competing  over the Michel Vaillancourt  designed course. There was a luncheon to benefit the charity Public  Education Partners during the Grand Prix in the Aiken Spring Classic Club.  Before the Grand Prix there was a Leadline competition judged by Randy  Wolcott and Georgianna Conger Wolcott.  The competition was so tough  that five riders were awarded first place!  They are Isabel Brunn, Elizabeth  Cram, Avery Craven, Celia Cram, and Ella Grace Dietzel.

Highlights from the Hunter Rings

The Pony Hunter Classic sponsored by Sandra Thomas was won by Cortina with owner/rider Madison Maners.  The Children’s Hunter 15-17 Classic was won by Lindsey Barnes riding Lexi Piez’s Bella Cavalla and the Children’s 14 & Under Hunter Classic winner was Mary Corbin Burlingame and Helen Milner’s Chairman of the Board.

The NAL-WIHS Adult 18-35 Hunter Classic was won today by Alexis Reece aboard Ann Lineberger’s Steel My Heart.  ASPCA Horsemanship was won by Selby Merritt, the USEF Hunter Seat Medal was won by Jordan Santi.  Alise Oken and Take Away took top honors in the Junior Hunter Classic ahead of 26 Small and Large Junior Hunters and Alise along with sister Lucille Oken held four of the top six returning scores for the second round.

Highlights from the Jumper Rings

It's two for two for Kyle Register's Trading Places and Daniel Geitner who again took top honors in this week's $30,000 Carolina Real Estate Company Grand Prix, just after their win of last week's $25,000 Aiken  Spring Classic Grand Prix. Seven horse and rider combinations returned for the fast paced jump off, in which Daniel Geitner rode 2 horses.

The winner of the $5,000 NAL-WIHS Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic was Tigre Royale owned and ridden by Jenna Friedman and the winner of the $5,000 Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic was Alise Oken aboard her horse Pedro. IEC Open Jam - Ki Juan Minors and Casey Hodges The 9th day of the Aiken Spring Classic was packed full of special events.   The Young Jumper Championship sponsored by Aiken Land Conservancy  went today on the Grand Prix Field with Danielle Grice’s Boysterous ridden  by Holly Shepherd taking the top honors.  At 5 pm in the Classic Club tent  Beaver River  hosted a Mexican Fiesta with food catered by Show Day  Café.  There was a good time had by all and donations were collected for  Danny and Ron’s Rescue.

 Highlights from the Hunter Rings

The Amateur Owner Hunter Classic winner was Cezanne with owner/rider Lillian Hahn with a two round total of 180 points, Sarah Ward and Issac finished just a point behind in second.  In the Amateur Owner Hunter 3’3” today, Ursula and Caroline Clark Morrison won both over fences classes and in the Children/Adult Hunter 3’3” Ashley Keith and her horse Lochland won one over fences class and Sabrina Giancroce won the other over fences with her horse Saint Jimmy.

Alexis Reece and Ann Lineberger’s Steel My Heart won an over fences class in the Adult Amateur Hunter 18-35 and Ansley Grainger won the other over fences with Sara McEachern’s Lissabon.  In the Adult Amateur Hunter 35-50, Missy Luczak won one over fences class aboard the Robin Hughes entry Silent Movie and James Fisher’s La Canto won the other over fences class with Lizabeth Fisher in the irons.  The Adult Amateur Hunter 51+ Division was dominated today by Cindi Prestage and her horse Westside winning both over fences classes.

In the Small Junior Hunters 15 & Under, Katie Dawson won both over fences classes aboard her horse Nevada and in the Small Junior Hunters 16-17, Christina Fisher aboard Lizabeth Fisher’s Ferragamo and Alise Oken on Hi Hopes Farm’s In Style each won an over fences class.  In the Large Junior Hunter 15 & Under Chase Boggio won an over fences class on Blair Garnett’s Camelot and Lucille Oken won the other over fences class aboard Alise Oken’s horse Southern Style.  The Large Junior Hunter 16-17 was dominated by Alise Oken on her horse Take Away winning both over fences classes.

The Children’s Hunter 14 & Under Division was dominated by rider James Fisher and his two mounts, his horse Marvelous and Udelson Show Stables’ All The Best.  The Children’s Hunter 15-17 winners in the over fences classes were Elizabeth Melton aboard Caroline Brennan’s Art Nouveau and Katie Laudun on her mount Elijah.

In the pony ring today, Aleece Jarman won both over fences classes in the Large Green Pony Hunters aboard Camelot owned by Hannah Clements.  In the Small/Medium Green Pony Hunter’s Quinn Larimer won an over fences on her pony Brownland’s Miss Sissie and the other over fences blue ribbon was captured by Corey Seidenspinner’s entry Lee Hill Forget Me Not with rider Megan Rosenthal. Cavallio Farm’s Everyday Enzo won an over fences class in the Small Pony Hunter today with rider Aleece Jarmen and Hi Lite won the other over fences with owner/rider Madison Maners.  In the Medium Pony Hunter Division, Lucille Oken won an over fences aboard her pony Promise and Madison Maners won the other over fences class on her pony Cortina.  In the Large Pony Hunter Lucille Oken won one over fences on her mount Ever After and Elizabeth Butterworth won the other over fences aboard her pony Sportspage.

The Pre-Adult Equitation Over Fences today was won by Kimberly Graves and the Pre-Adult Hunter Over Fences winners were Nancy Wilson on Honor Council owned by Nancy Wilson and Camp Wayfarer and Elizabeth Hartnett on her horse Stature.  The Pre-Children’s Hunter Division was Sarah Chafin’s today with her and Lois Ann Daughtridge’s Karma winning both over fences and the under saddle.

The Children’s Hunter Pony Division sponsored by Palmetto Tractor and Trailer started today with Hannah Grimm and her pony Spectacular Kid and Cecilia D’Amore and her pony Blue Jay sharing the top honors with each one winning an over fences class. The Short Stirrup Equitation ran today with Emory Barnes winning the Warm Up, Katie Shields  and Victoria Alfano each winning an equitation over fences, and Kinsey Peppler winning the Equitation on the flat.

In the Equitation classes today, Tory Hoft won the USEF Pony Medal and Selby Merritt  won the USEF Talent Search.  The WIHS Jumper Phase winner was Leah Curtiss, the winner of the SCHJA Governor’s Equitation Class was Mackenzie Long, and Chase Boggio was the overall winner of the WIHS and won the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search as well.

The Young Jumper 5 year old class was won by Ezmerelda owned and ridden by Hayden Warmington and the Young Jumper 6 year old class was won by Zed ridden by Trina Green and owned by Dustin Ball and the winner of the Young Jumper 7/8 year old class was Boysterous ridden by Holly Shepherd for owner Danielle Grice.

Grand Prix Field Skinny OxerThe 8th day of the Aiken Spring Classic wrapped up with the $5,000  Welcome Stake sponsored by 302 Polo and Barb & Tom Uskup.  The  $5,000 Welcome Stake was won by Gonzalo Garcia aboard the Equine  Trading Company’s entry Conejo.  Second place went to Anamika with  owner/rider Bhaskar Dasgupta and the third spot went to Holly Shepherd  on  Cabarette Z, an entry owned by Tuppy Dougherty.

Social Events

During the Welcome Stake today DFG Stables hosted a Pizza Party in the Classic Club and immediately following the Welcome Stake, International Equestrian Connection held an Open Jam party with musicians of all types sitting in to play. Tomorrow afternoon in the Classic Club tent Beaver River Farms will be hosting a Mexican Fiesta with food prepared by Show Day Café.  Please make sure to join us at 5pm for this great party.

We would like to give a big Thank You to Oak Manor Saddlery and Tracey and Jim Murray for hosting yesterday afternoon’s Wine and Cheese Party.  It was a huge success and greatly appreciated by all!   Last night’s 2nd Annual “Champagne on Ice” cocktail party hosted by Michael & Luke Tokaruk at their farm in the Bridle Creek Equestrian Community was a fun time and a relaxing evening enjoyed by many Aiken Spring Classic participants. Proceeds from the event went to the Aiken Equine Rescue.

Highlights from the Hunter Rings

The Amateur Owner Hunter 18-35 started today and is a battle between Sarah Ward and her two horses, Voltaire and Isaac, and Lindsey Chesnut and her two mounts, Status and Levantos.   The Amateur Owner Hunter 35+ was again this week dominated by Caroline Clark Morrison who won both over fences classes on her horse Scout.  

Lissabon owned by Sara McEachern and ridden by Ansley Grainger was Champion in the Hopeful Hunter and Limit Hunter Champion went to Ventura and owner/rider Allison Campbell.  The Champion in the Aiken County Hunter, sponsored by Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Sarah Vogus, was Julianne Wilson’s horse Dreams Gallore ridden by Stephanie Von Bidder. 

Champion in Schooling Pony went to Aleece Jarman aboard Reid Patton’s Blue Crush.  Jenna Santi won the WIHS Pony Classic aboard her pony A Hoof and A Prayer.

In the Equitation classes today, Meredith Abernathy was Champion in the Adult 18-35 Equitation, Nancy Wilson won the Adult 36+ Equitation Championship, and the Championship in the 12-14 Equitation went to Lauren Biddle. The Ariat Adult Medal was won by Courtney Grimm and the WIHS Hunter Phase was won by Chase Boggio.  Logan Holler was the winner of the E J Haun Memorial Medal, Kathryn Jarriel won the Taylor Harris National Medal, dominating a tough testing phase including a question from judge Carlton Brooks.

Highlights from the Jumper Rings

The Meter .90 jumper was won by Touche ridden by Luke Tokaruk and owned by Anastasia Bobilev. The top prize in the Meter 1.00 went to Alexa Boggio on Chase Boggio’s Thunderbay and Terry Russell won the Meter 1.10 jumpers aboard his horse, Dirty Harry. 

The Meter 1.20 jumper was won by Just Cruising with owner/rider JoJo Levy and the Meter 1.30 winner was Arwen owned by Mandel Stables and ridden by Chris Delia.  The winner of the Meter 1.35 jumper was won by Creed with owner/rider Helen Landon Terranova.

Sara Ketcham aboard Still Creek Farm’s Annismindes Caesar continued her winning streak from last week and was the winner of today’s Low Junior/Amateur Jumper class.  The High Junior/Amateur Jumper class was won by Taylor Land aboard Tusker owned by Pinetree Ponies.

Oak Manor Saddlery Wine & Cheese Party Today was another gorgeous, blue-sky day in Aiken, SC, with the  afternoon temperatures reaching into the low 80’s.   The show rings ran  extremely efficiently and the show was wrapped up around five o’clock.

 Social Events

 Oak Manor Saddlery hosted a Wine and Cheese party at their mobile shop  today at the Aiken Spring Classic and Jim and Tracey Murray were  delighted to have such a large crowd visit their shop.  Tonight is Michael & Luke Tokaruk’s 2nd Annual “Champagne on Ice” cocktail party which they will be hosting at their farm in the Bridle Creek Equestrian Community. 

Yesterday the social calendar was packed with a Sponsor “Thank You” Reception held in the Aiken Classic Club in the late afternoon and an exhibitor’s party at the Tiki Hut in Downtown Aiken in the evening hosted by Kishan & Joanne Shah of Hotel Aiken. 

Tomorrow, be sure to join us for DFG Farms Pizza Party and International Equestrian Connection’s Open Jam starting at 4 pm.  In the morning there will be a 9 am “Breakfast of Champions” for the Riders, Trainers, and Owners of the Champion and Reserve winners at the Aiken Spring Classic.

Highlights from the Hunter Rings

For the 2nd week in a row, Terry Brown and Sandy Gregory’s Formality continued their winning streak taking the Championship in the Green Working Hunters.  The Regular Working Hunter Division was completed with Elizabeth Boyd winning the Championship aboard Caroline Clark Morrison’s Scout. 

The Green Conformation Hunter Champion was Tasty owned by Showcase Limited and ridden by Terry Brown.  The second day of the Baby Green Hunters ended with Champion honors being awarded to Lisa Hofferth’s entry Don Ravel ridden by Michael Tokaruk.

The Pre-Green Hunter Divisions ran today with the 3’ section Championship being captured by Sunday Morning owned b y Neill Sites and ridden by Elizabeth Boyd and the 3’3” section Championship awarded to Waren Lang’s Toltec with rider Don Sheehan.  The 3’ Pre-Green Hunter Classic was won by Elizabeth Boyd aboard Elisabeth Fouche’s entry Posh.

Overall Circuit Awards


The BJ’S Hunt Room Perpetual Trophy presented by BJ Meeks for Conformation Hunter (Green & Regular) Circuit Champion went to Showcase Limited’s Tasty ridden by Terry Brown.  The Proud to Be Here Trophy for Green Working Hunter (1st & 2nd year) was awarded to Formality owned by Sandy Gregory and also ridden by Terry Brown.  Terry Brown continued her winning streak when she was presented with The Ramblewood Trophy for Leading Hunter Rider donated by Paul & Phyllis Rosen.

Elizabeth Boyd, like Terry Brown, also claimed three circuit awards.  Boyd won the William Haggard Memorial Trophy for Regular Working Hunter donated by Danny Robertshaw & Ron Danta aboard Carolina Clark Morrison’s Scout.  Scout and Boyd also were awarded The H ‘n D Perpetual Trophy as Grand Hunter Champion.  The Suphose Memorial Trophy for the Pre-Green Hunter Division donated by Willa Beasley & Anna Loebsack went to Boyd’s mount Sunday Morning owned by Neill Sites.

Highlights from the Jumper Rings

Presentation Area outside the Aiken Classic ClubToday was the start of the 2nd week of the Aiken Spring Classic and we  would like to extend a great big “Thank You” to all of those who hosted  parties last week at the Aiken Spring Classic.  Many thanks to Juan,  Jennifer, & Nico Gamboa, Sierra Run LLC & Jen Miller, Oak Manor  Saddlery & Tracey and Jim Murray, Child Advocacy Center, & Women  Beyond Cancer.

Highlights from the Hunter Rings

For the second week in a row Terry Brown and Sandy Gregory’s Formality swept the first day of the Green Working Hunters.  In the Regular Working Hunter Division Caroline Clark Morrison’s Scout won both over fences with Elizabeth Boyd in the saddle.

The first day of the Baby Green Hunters sponsored by Lynn Carter and The Funny Farm in loving memory of E Edward Houghton started off with Daniel Geitner and Harry Potter winning one of the over fences and Michael Tokaruk and Don Ravel claiming the top prize in the other over fences class and the under saddle.

The Pre-Green Hunter 3’ division started today with Neill Sites’ Sunday Morning winning an over fences class with Elizabeth Boyd and Lifestyle owned by Foxdale Equine Veterinary and ridden by Terry Brown winning an over fences class as well.  The Pre-Green Hunter 3’3” was swept today by James Fisher’s La Canto and rider Terry Brown.

Highlights from the Jumper Rings

The Meter .90 jumpers was won by Lauren Biddle and her mount Say My Name and the Meter 1.00 jumpers was won by Katheryn Jarriel aboard her horse Wat Tyler. Terry Russell and Dirty Harry finished first in the Meter 1.10 jumpers and the winner of the Meter 1.20 jumpers was Luke Tokaruk aboard Rival Du Point Du Jour owned by Lindsay Strafuss. 

The Meter 1.30 jumpers were won by Chris Della and Arwen owned by Mandel Stables and the Meter 1.35 jumpers winner was Keops De La Lande with owner/rider Ashley Martin.  The Open Jumpers started today and Anamika was the winner with owner/rider Bhaskar Dasgupta.
